We found out the hard way, but we have learned that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. After an overwhelmingly successful February Swap Meet, we are in the extremely unfortunate position of informing you that the April 6th, Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi has been cancelled.
Management of the Rock Financial Showplace did not anticipate the tremendous following that the Giant Motorcycle Swap Meets has in the Detroit area. Due to the extreme parking restrictions that will only exist for our April 6th swap meet, the Rock Financial Showplace is unable to accommodate our spring event.
After 33 years at the State Fairgrounds, the decision to move the Detroit area swap meets was made primarily due to shrinking facility space and the specter of increased parking fees at the Fairgrounds. The decision to move was extremely difficult to make, but one that we felt was necessary in order to continue the tradition of success that has been built over the previous 33 years. In moving the event to Novi, our primary goal was to allow for more people to attend and maintain parking, gate and vendor fees at affordable levels.
The February Giant Motorcycle Swap meet was the largest in our 33 year history, both in terms of square footage and the number of vendors. However, due to Rock Financial Showplace’s inexperience with our loyal and enthusiastic customer base, many of our customers faced long waits in traffic and insufficient parking. After our February event, Rock Financial Showplace management indicated that, due to temporary facility and parking limitations, the April 6th Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet would be cancelled.
Fortunately for all of us bikers, there is good news and many reasons to look forward to future Giant Motorcycle Swap Meets at the Rock Financial Showplace. The Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet scheduled for October 26th will occur as scheduled at the Rock Financial Showplace. With additional parking, wider aisles and more vendors, the Giant Motorcycle Swap meet will be bigger and better than ever.
Additionally, 2009’s Giant Motorcycle Swap Meets will be held in two, giant halls! With over 150,000 square feet, our February and April 2009 Giant Motorcycle Swap Meets will be the largest and best motorcycle swap meets under one roof in the entire country! With more space, more vendors, and the same low fees, the Giant Motorcycle Swap Meets will allow more bikers to see and buy everything for rider and machine. You will not want to miss these landmark biker events.
